Honours Project | Difficulties Being You - An Autism Story | 2D Animation September 2024 - Present
Job Roles: Creative Director, Film Producer, Film Editor, Clean-Up Animator, Sound Designer, Dubbing Mixer, Sound Editor, Dialogue Editor, Foley Mixer, Foley Artist, Voice Actor This project was a continuation from the professional internship which I was a part of in 2024. The animated film was the final deliverable for my honours project at Edinburgh Napier University. The project was researching how sound design in animation can present the sensitivity issues faced by autistic people to neurodiverse and neurotypical audiences. A literature review was conducted to identify the sensitivity issues faced by autistic people, for example, autistic people can struggle with hearing loud sounds. This literature review helped identify sounds, recording equipment, foley props, and existing sound editing and mixing techniques which could be used to create the sound mix. The animatic from the internship was transformed into an 2D animation by a team of animators. I used my technical skills as a sound designer to create a sound mix for the animation and amplify the films storyline. The animation was presented to the films target audience in a survey and they provided their reviews of the sound mix. The results of the survey identified if the sound mix helped the audience engage with the films storyline and if it sparked the audiences interest in learning more about autism. Synopsis - Sam has recently been diagnosed with autism. They are now faced with the challenge of controlling their hypersensitivity in public, and thus, trying to prevent themselves from having a sensory overload. Sound Design | Treasure Planet - Silver Leaves | Remastered
January - March 2025
Job Role: Post-Production Sound Editor, Dubbing Mixer, Foley Artist, Dialogue Editor, Voice Actor When I was classifying my professional identity and developing my professional portfolio website. I was given an assignment to re-design one of my digital artefacts included in my sound design portfolio. I chose to re-design my sound mix for the 'Treasure Planet - Silver Leaves' Re-Dubbed' video from 2022. My objectives for this artefact re-design was to; improve the quality of the dialogue audio, apply additional background audio and sound effects to identify the films environment, props, character design, and improving my dubbing mixing skills. Sound Design | Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - Campsite Battle | Remastered
September - December 2024
Job Role: Post-Production Sound Editor, Foley Artist, Dubbing Mixer I was given an assignment to develop my sound design skills using a soundscape of my choice. I chose to re-create the Foley sound mix in a medieval battle scene featured in the 1991 film 'Robin Hood: Prince of Theives'. I wanted to improve the Foley sound mix for a medieval battle scene that included the sounds of swords and bow & arrows without the support of a music score. I do love this film, however I did think that the music score featured in the film was overpowering at times, and it took away the focus on the action featured in the film. This video contains an audio stem featuring the original dialogue from the film. Warning! I do not own the copyright for this clip or the dialogue audio stem that is inculded in the video. All of the copyright belongs to Warner Bros Entertainment and Morgan Creek Entertainment. Professional Internship | Difficulties Being You - An Autism Story | 2D Animatic
May - August 2024
Job Roles: Creative Director, Film Producer, Film Editor , Scriptwriter, Storyboard Artist , Post-Production Sound Editor, Dialogue Editor, Voice Actor I worked for a client within the university with another intern and a freelance animator. We created a 2D-animatic short film which presents how autism affects an autistic person's interactions within public environments, and how the films target audience can help reduce autistic peoples struggles interacting in public enviornments. I worked for the client in early 2024 to create this film, but, the first attempt of creating this film was not executed well enough to meet the clients standards. Luckily, we came to an agreement to recreate the film by creating a new script, storyboard and using a different animation style. I took on multiple job roles in this internship since the team was small. This film was important to me because I am an woman with a confirmed autism diagnosis, so, I understood the message that this film was making. The client was aware of my diagonsis and they asked me if I could provide my personal perspective on how my autism affected my interactions within public environments. I used the academic knowledge provided by the client and my personal experiences to create an immersive storyline for the 2D-animatic. I worked alongside the freelance animator and provided creative input on the animated character and prop movements within the film scenes. Once the animations were completed, I used my film editing skills to put the animation together and added additonal affects to some of the film scenes to create some dramatic effects. I used my sound design skills to record, edit, and mix the films dialogue into the film. Throughout the entire project I made sure to keep in contact with the client and my team members via email, teams meetings and teams chat. I made sure that all team members were on target with completing their tasks via weekly meetings, animation sessions, and using a progress tracking tool. Group Project | Coping with Sensitivity and Perception as an Autistic Person | 3D Animated Film January - April 2024

Job Roles: Project Manager, Post-Production Sound Editor, Dialogue Editor, Sound Designer In the second trimester of my third year in university, I was a project manager for a group project. The group was working for a client who was one of the lecturers within the University. The client wanted us to make a three minute animated film that presented autism, hypersensitivity, and technical interventions that can be used to help autistic people cope using the script that the client provided. I was the dialogue editor for this project which meant that I had to record the dialogue with a voice actor that I sourced. I also edited the dialogue audio to ensure that audio was a high quality standard for the client and target audience when the video was watched. I was working with three animators, a web designer and another sound designer in-person and online. There were some complications with the animation and sound design aspects of this project. Therefore the video was unusable for the clients project, but, the client was very understanding because this was the teams first attempt working on a project like this. Sound Design | How I programmed a 360 VR Water Sound Therapy Game Experience | Audio Programming
September - November 2023
Job Role: Post-Production Sound Editor, Dubbing Mixer, Foley Artist, Audio Programmer I was given a 360 Unity Game template and I had to create an Immersive VR experience for my selected target audience. My theme for this project was a water sound therapy session. This projects purpose is to help people take some time out of their day to listen to the sounds of water to help them reduce their stress and tension on their minds and bodies. And hopefully after people have played this game, they will be inspired to go out into nature and find other water sources to listen to. I recorded the majority of the audio for this project using a Zoom H3-VR microphone to create 4 channel audio files. I edited my 4 channel audio files in a DAW that had the ability to work with those types of audio files. I implemented the audio files directly into the game engine without using a middleware software. I used complex C# computer language to program the game. Interactive Sound Design | Prototype App Demonstration - Interactive Toy for Deaf Children January - May 2024
Job Role: Research and Development, Project Planner, App Prototype Developer, Sound Designer, Foley Artist, Voice Actor, Film Editor I was given the challenge to create a prototype app for an existing interactive product which I wanted to redevelop and include interactive sound. I was inspired by my cousin's daughter who was born deaf and she worried about how her daughter was going to learn and develop basic language and communicate with others. I chose a baby activity gym as the product that I wanted to redevelop. From the research I had gathered, deaf people may not be able to hear sounds, however, they can feel the sound vibrations when the sound reflects off of solid surfaces. So I decided that the newly developed activity gym should include vibration motors which is embedded into the activity gyms playmat and toys. Since this project had to include interactive sound, so, I included a selection of audio files that could be used in the toy. I also included a audio sample of a vibration. The app prototype that I created demonstrates how parents and caregivers of deaf children can set the volume of audiofiles and the levels of vibration that the vibration motors will produce when the child is playing in the activity gym and hopefully learning the letters, numbers and phrases which are included in the toy. I have considered that the vibrations for those audio files should have a specific vibration pattern. So maybe at somepoint in my future career, this product could be developed even further and maybe a new language similar to Braille could be developed to help deaf children learn and develop basic language and communication.
